Orchestra Mozarteum
The Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg is a distinguished Austrian orchestra founded in 1841 in Salzburg, closely tied to the legacy of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The orchestra was established with the support of Mozart's widow, Constanze, and their sons, Franz Xaver and Karl Thomas, under the musical direction of Alois Taux. Initially part of the "Cathedral Music Society and Mozarteum," it officially adopted the name "Mozarteum Orchestra" in 1908.

Renowned for its performances of Viennese Classical period works, particularly those of Mozart, the orchestra also embraces Romantic and contemporary pieces. It serves as Salzburg’s symphony, festival, and operatic orchestra, performing at venues such as the Großes Festspielhaus and the Great Hall of the Stiftung Mozarteum. The orchestra is a regular participant in the Salzburg Festival's 'Mozart Matinees' and the Salzburg Mozart Week.

The Mozarteum Orchestra is committed to music education, offering interactive workshops and open rehearsals to introduce classical music to broader audiences, especially the younger generation. It also engages in a project called '2 ORCHESTRAS,' which combines professional and youth orchestras to present new compositions.

The orchestra has a rich recording history, particularly noted for its recordings of Mozart's complete early operas and symphonies. It has worked with prominent artists and recorded under labels such as Oehms Classics, Sony Classical, and Naive. The current chief conductor is Riccardo Minasi, who has been in the role since 2017, following Ivor Bolton, who is now an honorary conductor. The principal guest conductor is Giovanni Antonini.
