Leonidas Melnikas
Leonidas Melnikas, born on April 10, 1957, in Vilnius, is a distinguished Lithuanian pianist, organist, musicologist, and a tenured doctor of social sciences. He completed his studies in piano and organ at the N. Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory in Leningrad, followed by postgraduate studies. Melnikas further honed his skills at prestigious institutions such as the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music in Weimar, the Munich University of Music, the Paris Conservatory, and the Guildhall School in London.

Since 1983, he has been a faculty member at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater, where he has served as the head of the General Piano Department since 1995 and as a professor since 1994. He is also a correspondent member of the Music History Commission of the J. G. von Herder Scientific Council in Germany. Melnikas is a member of the piano trio "Musica Camerata Baltica" and has performed both as a soloist and in chamber ensembles in Lithuania and abroad.

His literary contributions include books on music culture and heritage, such as "Muzikos paveldas: epochų ir kultūrų sankirta" and "Išnykusios kultūros pėdsakais: Lietuvos žydų muzikinis paveldas." He is also known for his work on the biography of Saulius Sondeckis, a prominent Lithuanian conductor. Melnikas's dedication to music and education is evident in his extensive teaching career and his writings, which aim to make music accessible and engaging to a wide audience.
