Pavel Jegorov
Pavel Grigorievich Egorov (8 January 1948 – 15 August 2017) was a distinguished Russian pianist and scholar. Born in Leningrad, he graduated from the Moscow P. I. Tchaikovsky Conservatoire in 1975, studying under T. Nikolaeva and V. Gornostaeva. Egorov gained international recognition after winning the VI Robert Schumann Competition in 1974. He made his debut in the Grand Halls of the Moscow and Leningrad Conservatoires and went on to perform in prestigious concert halls worldwide, with over 3,000 performances to his name.

Egorov was a professor and the Head of the Piano Department at the Saint Petersburg Conservatory from 1980 until his death. He was named a Meritorious Artist of the Russian Federation and was an honorary member of both the Robert Schumann Society in Düsseldorf and the Saint Petersburg Philharmonic Society. As a musical researcher, Egorov was the scientific editor of the first Russian edition of Robert Schumann's complete piano works, published by Muzyka in 1986. His contributions to music were recognized with the International Schumann Prize in 1989 and the Order of Polish Government "For merits in culture" in 2003.

Egorov also conducted master classes in several countries, including South Korea, Holland, Italy, Taiwan, and Sweden. He recorded over 40 solo, chamber, and symphony programs for various Russian and international record companies. Pavel Egorov passed away from cancer on 15 August 2017 at the age of 69.
