Leonid Dorfman
Leonid Dorfman, born on June 8, 1963, in Vilnius, Lithuania, is a distinguished pianist and conductor. He began his musical journey under the guidance of his mother, a concert pianist, and honed his skills at the "M. K. Ciurlionis" music-art grammar school for highly gifted children. Dorfman achieved early recognition by winning the first prize in a national competition for young Lithuanian pianists. He furthered his studies at the Vilnius Academy of Music and the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, graduating with distinction.

In 1990, Dorfman relocated to Frankfurt am Main, Germany, where he pursued advanced studies in piano, chamber music, and song accompaniment at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst. His education was complemented by master classes in Freiburg, Salzburg, Vienna, and Budapest.

Dorfman has established a notable international career, performing as a soloist, chamber musician, and Lied accompanist across the USA, Italy, Greece, Austria, France, and numerous cities in the former USSR. His performances have graced prestigious venues such as the Tchaikovsky Conservatory, Vilnius Philharmonic Orchestra, Mozarteum in Salzburg, and Alte Oper in Frankfurt. He has also participated in renowned festivals like the Schleswig Holstein Music Festival and the Kissinger Summer.

In 2001, Dorfman expanded his musical expertise by completing his training as a conductor. He has conducted various orchestras, including the Hungarian and Bulgarian Symphony Orchestras, the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, and the Symphony Orchestra from Minsk.

Dorfman's teaching career began in 1997 at the University of Mainz, where he serves as a piano instructor. Since 2002, he has also been a lecturer for piano at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik in Trossingen. His pedagogical influence extends to the Musikschule Dreieich, where he has been teaching since 1990. Dorfman's students have achieved success in competitions such as Jugend musiziert and the Sparkassen Wettbewerb.

Throughout his career, Dorfman has collaborated with esteemed musicians and professors, including Irina Edelstein, Edith Peinemann, and Dimitri Bashkirow, among others. His discography includes recordings like "Liszt for Young Music Geniuses" and "Symphonische Etüden," showcasing his prowess in interpreting classical piano works.
