Jacob Gade
Jacob Thune Hansen Gade (29 November 1879 – 20 February 1963) was a Danish violinist and composer, renowned for his contribution to orchestral popular music. Born in Vejle, Denmark, he hailed from a family with a rich musical tradition. Gade's early exposure to music came through his grandfather and father, who were itinerant musicians. At the young age of nine, Gade debuted as a trumpeter and soon after became a soloist in the orchestra of the Tivoli Garden in Copenhagen.

Gade's ambition led him to pursue violin studies and eventually move to Copenhagen to further his career. He initially composed country music and polkas and aspired to be an orchestra conductor. Despite early struggles, he gained recognition for his compositions and led his own orchestra by 1903. His career included leading orchestras in theaters and cinemas, particularly during the silent film era.

Gade is best remembered for his composition "Jalousie" (also known as "Tango Tzigane" or "Tango Jalousie"), which remains his most enduring work. Throughout his life, Gade's contributions to music were significant, although "Jalousie" stands out as his lasting legacy.
