James Cavanaugh
James Anthony Cavanaugh was an American songwriter born on October 29, 1892, in New York City, where he also passed away on August 18, 1967. Initially working as a chauffeur, Cavanaugh transitioned into a successful career as a songwriter. He was married to Martha V. Conroy, with whom he had six children. During World War I, he was drafted but discharged shortly after the armistice. By 1942, he had become a professional songwriter, registering with ASCAP and residing in the Bronx.

Cavanaugh is best known for songs like "Mississippi Mud," popularized by Bing Crosby, "The Gaucho Serenade," and "You're Nobody 'til Somebody Loves You." He collaborated with notable figures such as John Redmond, Nat Simon, and Frank Weldon. His works were performed by artists like Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, and the Andrews Sisters, contributing significantly to the American music scene of his time.
