Georg Christoph Wagenseil
Georg Christoph Wagenseil (29 January 1715 – 1 March 1777) was an eminent Austrian composer born in Vienna. He was a distinguished pupil of Johann Joseph Fux, the Kapellmeister of the Vienna court, and went on to compose for the court from 1739 until his death. Wagenseil also served as a harpsichordist and organist. Among his notable pupils were Johann Baptist Schenk, who later taught Ludwig van Beethoven, and Marie Antoinette. Despite his significant influence, Wagenseil traveled little and spent most of his life in Vienna, where he eventually passed away.

During his lifetime, Wagenseil was a prominent figure in the music world, with both Joseph Haydn and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart being familiar with his works. His compositions transitioned from the Baroque style in his early works to the Classical style in his later pieces. His diverse body of work includes operas, choral works, symphonies, concertos, chamber music, and keyboard pieces. Notable compositions include operas such as "La generosità trionfante" (1745) and "Ariodante" (1745), concertos for various instruments, and numerous symphonies and chamber works.
