Mogol
Giulio Rapetti, known professionally as Mogol, was born on August 17, 1936, in Milan, Italy. He is a renowned Italian lyricist celebrated for his extensive contributions to Italian music. Mogol is best known for his prolific collaborations with iconic artists such as Lucio Battisti, Gianni Bella, Marcella Bella, Adriano Celentano, and Mango. His career began at the Ricordi record label, where his father, Mariano Rapetti, was a significant figure and a successful lyricist of the 1950s. Despite his father's initial opposition, Mogol embarked on his own path as a lyricist.

Mogol's early successes included writing lyrics for "Il cielo in una stanza," set to music by Gino Paoli and sung by Mina, and "Al di là," which won the 1961 Sanremo Festival. He also penned "Una lacrima sul viso," a major hit for Bobby Solo in 1964. Mogol played a crucial role in adapting English-language songs into Italian, including works by Bob Dylan and David Bowie.

In 1965, Mogol met Lucio Battisti, and their collaboration became a defining partnership in Italian music. Mogol's lyrics were integral to Battisti's rise as a singer-songwriter, leading to numerous hits and the establishment of their record label, Numero Uno. Mogol's influence extended beyond Italian borders, with his song "Piangi con me" being adapted into the English hit "Let's Live for Today" by The Grass Roots.

Throughout his career, Mogol wrote approximately 1,500 songs, leaving an indelible mark on the Italian music scene. His legacy includes not only his work with Battisti but also his contributions to the music of many other celebrated Italian artists. Mogol's personal life includes his marriage to Daniela Gimmelli and his children, some of whom have followed in his musical footsteps.
