Andy Parker
Andrew Maynard Parker, born on March 21, 1952, in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire, England, is a renowned British drummer best known as a founding member of the hard rock band UFO. Parker began drumming at the age of seven and acquired his first drum kit in 1965. His early musical influences included prominent British drummers of the sixties, such as Keith Moon and Ginger Baker. In 1969, Parker joined forces with Phil Mogg, Pete Way, and Mick Bolton to form UFO, initially named Hocus Pocus, after auditioning successfully as their drummer.

Parker's career with UFO has been marked by several departures and reunions. The band disbanded in 1983, after which Parker played with Way's group Waysted from 1984 to 1985. UFO re-formed without him in 1985, but he rejoined in 1993, left again in 1995, and returned in 2005, remaining with the band until its fourth breakup in April 2024. Parker has also been associated with the Nelson Twins and has been a Paiste cymbals artist since 1974.

Despite facing medical issues between late 2005 and early 2007, Parker continued his musical journey. He resides in Granbury, Texas, with his wife Jo McDonnell. His daughter from his first marriage, Lindsay Parker, is a former child actress and current children's book author. Parker's enduring passion for music and drumming has left an indelible mark on the hard rock and heavy metal genres.
