Giancarlo Bigazzi (5 September 1940 – 19 January 2012) was a renowned Italian music producer and composer, born in Florence, Italy. He was a prominent figure in the Italian music scene during the 1970s and 1980s, known for his work as a songwriter and lyricist. Bigazzi wrote several successful Italian pop hits that gained international acclaim, including "Gloria," "Self Control," "No Me Ames," "Tu," "Take the Heat off Me," and "Ti amo."

He began his career by writing hits for artists such as Riccardo Del Turco, Caterina Caselli, Mario Tessuto, and Renato dei Profeti. Throughout the 1970s, Bigazzi collaborated with various artists, including Totò Savio, Gianni and Antonio Bella, Claudio Cavallaro, and others, contributing to the success of many Italian pop songs. He also co-founded the satirical music group Squallor in 1971, which became popular for its parody songs and albums.

In addition to his work in pop music, Bigazzi composed film scores, including those for "Forever Mary," "Boys on the Outside," and the Academy Award-winning "Mediterraneo." He played a significant role in launching the career of Umberto Tozzi, co-writing many of Tozzi's hits. In the 1980s and 1990s, Bigazzi established a production team in Florence, mentoring and producing artists like Marco Masini, Raf, and others.

Bigazzi's wife, Gianna Albini, often collaborated with him on his works. His final artistic contribution was the album "Inutilmente utile," which served as the soundtrack for the 2016 film "Gli Infami." Giancarlo Bigazzi passed away on 19 January 2012 in Lido di Camaiore, Italy.
