Seal
Seal Henry Olusegun Olumide Adeola Samuel, known professionally as Seal, was born on February 19, 1963, in London, England, to a Nigerian mother and a Brazilian father. Raised in a challenging environment, Seal faced a turbulent childhood and was later raised by his father and stepmother. He initially pursued a diploma in architecture and worked various jobs before turning to music.
Seal's music career began with small gigs in London clubs, and he joined the British funk band Push, touring Japan. His breakthrough came with the 1990 single "Killer," a collaboration with producer Adamski, which topped the UK charts. This success led to a contract with ZTT Records and the release of his self-titled debut album in 1991, featuring hits like "Crazy" and "Killer."
Seal's second album, also self-titled, was released in 1994 and included "Kiss from a Rose," which gained international fame after being featured in the Batman Forever soundtrack. The song earned him multiple Grammy Awards, including Record of the Year and Song of the Year in 1996.
Throughout his career, Seal released several albums, such as Human Being (1998), Seal IV (2003), and System (2007), showcasing his blend of soul, R&B, and pop. He also explored covers of classic R&B songs in his albums Soul (2008) and Soul 2 (2011). Seal served as a coach on The Voice Australia and continued to perform and release music, maintaining his status as an influential figure in contemporary music.
Seal was married to supermodel Heidi Klum from 2005 to 2014, and they have four children together. Despite personal and professional challenges, Seal remains a celebrated artist known for his distinctive voice and emotive songwriting.
