Players
Player is an American rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, in the late 1970s. The band is best known for its soft rock style and achieved significant success with several hits on the US Hot 100 chart. Among these, two singles reached the top 10, including the No. 1 hit "Baby Come Back," which was co-written by band members Peter Beckett and J.C. Crowley.

The original lineup of Player consisted of Peter Beckett (vocals, guitar), J.C. Crowley (vocals, keyboards, guitar), Ronn Moss (vocals, bass), and John Friesen (drums). Beckett, originally from Liverpool, had previously been part of the progressive rock group Paladin and later Skyband. After Skyband disbanded, Beckett remained in Los Angeles, where he met Crowley, leading to the formation of Player.

Player gained popularity as a live act during the 1970s stadium rock era, initially opening for artists like Gino Vannelli and Boz Scaggs. Their biggest hit, "Baby Come Back," was released in late 1977 and topped the Billboard Hot 100 in January 1978. The band's follow-up single, "This Time I'm in It for Love," also reached No. 10 in the same year. Player was recognized as Billboard's Best New Singles Artist of 1978.

The band experienced lineup changes and periods of inactivity over the years, with active years from 1976 to 1982, 1995 to 2003, and from 2007 to the present. Despite these changes, Peter Beckett and Ronn Moss have remained central figures in the band. Player's music has been released under various labels, including RSO, Philips, Casablanca, RCA, RiverNorth, Frontiers Records, and Atlantic.
