Daniel Wilson
Daniel Wilson was an American musician, songwriter, and producer from Ypsilanti, Michigan, born in 1990. He was known for his work in genres such as indie rock, R&B, New Wave, and Baroque Pop. Wilson's musical journey began at age 13 in a gospel choir, and he started composing solo in 2008. He gained recognition with his debut EP, "Young Rubbish," released in 2014 under Zap Records, followed by "Boy Who Cried Thunder" in the same year. As a versatile artist, he played vocals and piano and was signed by Zap Records in 2013.
Wilson collaborated with various notable artists, including The Weeknd, with whom he co-wrote and produced "Sidewalks" featuring Kendrick Lamar for the album "Starboy." He also worked with artists like Miguel, Twin Shadow, Joe Goddard, and ZHU. In 2020, he released the single "Near Me," co-written and produced with Andrew Horowitz and Elliot Jacobson. His music was characterized by a blend of electronic and ecclesiastic elements, and he was noted for his "rare, elastic falsetto." Tragically, Daniel Wilson passed away in a plane crash on September 18, 2025.
