Catherine Ringer
Catherine Ringer, born on October 18, 1957, in Suresnes, France, is a multifaceted French artist known for her work as a singer, songwriter, composer, multi-instrumentalist, dancer, choreographer, and actress. She gained prominence as the co-founder and frontwoman of the influential pop/rock duo Les Rita Mitsouko, alongside Fred Chichin. The group achieved mainstream success with their 1985 hit "Marcia Baila," a tribute to Ringer's former dance teacher, Marcia Moretto. Ringer's career began in the late 1970s with stage productions, and she also appeared in films, including some in the pornographic genre.
After Chichin's death in 2007, Ringer continued to lead Les Rita Mitsouko and embarked on a solo career. Her solo debut, "Chante les Rita Mitsouko and More à la Cigale," was released in 2008 as a live CD/DVD. She has also collaborated with other artists, including a successful duet with Marc Lavoine in 1988 and work with the Plaza Francia Orchestra. Her solo discography includes albums like "Ring n' Roll" (2011) and "Chroniques et Fantaisies" (2017). Ringer remains a vibrant presence in the French music scene, known for her dynamic stage presence and artistic versatility.
