Randy Newman, born Randall Stuart Newman on November 28, 1943, in Los Angeles, California, is an acclaimed American singer, songwriter, arranger, pianist, composer, conductor, and orchestrator. Known for his distinctive non-rhotic Southern-accented singing style and satirical lyrics, Newman has made significant contributions to both the music and film industries.

Newman's musical career began at the age of 17, writing hits for artists such as the Fleetwoods and Cilla Black. He launched his recording career in 1968 with his self-titled album, "Randy Newman." Throughout the 1970s and beyond, he released several critically acclaimed albums, including "Sail Away" (1972), "Good Old Boys" (1974), and "Little Criminals" (1977). His hits as a recording artist include "Short People" (1977) and "I Love L.A." (1983).
