Alexey Mashistov
Aleksei Ivanovich Mashistov (1904–1987) was a Soviet poet, lyricist, and translator, primarily recognized for his contributions as a librettist and translator. He played a significant role in adapting literary works into operas and is notably remembered for providing the text for Sergei Prokofiev's "Zdravitsa" (Op. 85). Mashistov also wrote an anthem for the city of Moscow in 1947, using music by Mikhail Glinka. His work extended to the TASS studio, where he was one of the most prolific writers, contributing to numerous posters from 1941 to 1946. Despite his prolific output, some of his texts were criticized for their craftsmanship. His legacy remains prominent in the realm of Soviet music and literature.
