Anatoliy D'Aktil
Anatoliy D'Aktil, born Noson-Nohim Abramovich Frenkel on June 3 (15), 1890, was a multifaceted Soviet artist known for his work as a poet, songwriter, playwright, satirical writer, and translator. He was active during a significant period in Soviet history and contributed to its cultural landscape through various forms of writing. D'Aktil is particularly noted for his involvement in the creation of the "Budyonny March," a song commemorating the Soviet military leader Semyon Budyonny, which became emblematic of the Russian Civil War era. The lyrics, penned by D'Aktil, were set to music by Dmitry Pokrass and became one of the most recognized songs of the time, celebrating the valor of the Red Cavalry. Additionally, D'Aktil contributed to the music department of films such as "Moya lyubov" and "Tanya," both released in 1940. His work continued to influence Soviet music and culture until his death on November 29, 1942.
