Stevie Nicks, born Stephanie Lynn Nicks on May 26, 1948, in Phoenix, Arizona, is an iconic American singer-songwriter renowned for her work with the legendary pop-rock band Fleetwood Mac and her successful solo career. Known for her ethereal stage presence, powerful songwriting, and distinctive low, rich vocals, Nicks has established herself as a leading figure in the music industry.

Nicks was born to Barbara and Jess Nicks and has a younger brother. As a child, she struggled to pronounce her given name, leading to the nickname "Stevie," which became her hallmark. Her family moved frequently due to her father's work, eventually settling in California during her teenage years. She attended Menlo-Atherton High School, where she met future Fleetwood Mac guitarist and vocalist Lindsey Buckingham. While attending San Jose State University, Nicks joined Buckingham's band, Fritz, which played psychedelic, bluesy rock. The duo left Fritz in the early 1970s to form Buckingham Nicks, releasing a self-titled album in 1973.
