George S. Clinton
George Stanley Clinton Jr. is an accomplished American composer, songwriter, arranger, and session musician known for his significant contributions to film and television music. Born and raised in Nashville, Clinton pursued degrees in music and drama at Middle Tennessee State University. Following his education, he relocated to Los Angeles, where he became a staff writer for Warner Brothers Music and engaged in session work. Clinton's career in film scoring began when his band, The George Clinton Band, caught the attention of a movie producer, leading to his first film score for "Cheech and Chong's Still Smokin'." He is widely recognized for his scores for films such as "Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery" and its sequels, as well as "Mortal Kombat" and its sequel. Clinton's work has earned him numerous accolades, including a Grammy nomination, an Emmy nomination, and eight BMI Film Music Awards. He was also honored with the Richard Kirk Award in 2007 for his outstanding contributions to film and television music. Beyond film, Clinton has composed concert works and musicals and served as an adviser at the Sundance Institute. He was formerly the Chair of the Film Scoring Department at Berklee College of Music in Boston.
