Carly Simon
Carly Elisabeth Simon, born on June 25, 1943, in New York City, is an acclaimed American singer-songwriter and author. She emerged as a prominent figure in the music industry during the 1970s, known for her distinctive voice and introspective songwriting. Simon's early musical endeavors began with her sister Lucy as part of the Simon Sisters, where they achieved a minor hit with "Winkin', Blinkin' and Nod."

Simon's solo career took off with her self-titled debut album in 1971, earning her a Grammy Award for Best New Artist. Her subsequent albums, including "Anticipation" and "No Secrets," solidified her status as a leading artist of the era. "You're So Vain," a track from "No Secrets," became an iconic hit, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and sparking widespread speculation about its subject. Simon later revealed that the second verse was about actor Warren Beatty.

Throughout the 1970s, Carly Simon released a series of successful albums and singles, such as "The Right Thing to Do," "Mockingbird" (a duet with then-husband James Taylor), and "Nobody Does It Better," the theme for the James Bond film "The Spy Who Loved Me." Her work earned her multiple Grammy nominations and awards.

In addition to her music career, Simon is a celebrated author, having written two memoirs and several children's books. Her memoir "Boys in the Trees" provides insights into her personal life, including her marriage to James Taylor, with whom she has two children.

Simon's contributions to film music include the Oscar, Grammy, and Golden Globe-winning song "Let the River Run" from the movie "Working Girl." She was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1994 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2022, recognizing her enduring impact on the music industry.
