David Eric Grohl, born on January 14, 1969, in Warren, Ohio, is a prominent American musician celebrated for his roles as the founder and lead singer of the alternative rock band Foo Fighters and as the former drummer of the influential grunge band Nirvana. Grohl's early life in music began at age 10 when he formed his first band. His musical journey took a significant turn when he dropped out of high school to join the hardcore punk band Scream as their drummer.

In 1990, Grohl joined Nirvana, where his powerful drumming contributed to the band's explosive success, particularly with their landmark album "Nevermind" (1991).
