Stephen Foster
Stephen Collins Foster was an American composer renowned for his prolific songwriting, having penned over two hundred songs. Many of his compositions remain well-known today, including classics such as “Oh! Susanna,” “Beautiful Dreamer,” “Hard Times Come Again No More,” and “Camptown Races.” Foster is celebrated as the greatest songwriter of the nineteenth century and holds the unique distinction of being the only person to have written two state songs, for Florida and Kentucky.
