Crystal Gayle
Brenda Gail Webb, professionally known as Crystal Gayle, was born on January 9, 1951, in Paintsville, Kentucky. She is the youngest child of Theodore Melvin “Ted” and Clara Marie “Clary” Ramey Webb and has seven siblings, including the renowned country singer Loretta Lynn. Gayle married Bill Gatzimos in 1971.
Crystal Gayle is a celebrated American country music singer who gained fame with her 1977 hit "Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue." Initially managed by the same team as her sister Loretta Lynn, Gayle struggled to find success until she signed a new contract and began working with Nashville producer Allen Reynolds. This collaboration led to a shift towards a country pop sound, making her one of the most successful crossover artists of the 1970s and 1980s.
Her career began in the 1960s, and by 1975, she had her first major hit with "Wrong Road Again." Her biggest success came with "Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue," which topped the Billboard country chart and became an international hit. Gayle continued to release successful singles, including "Talking in Your Sleep" and "You and I."
In the 1990s, Gayle explored various musical genres and operated a fine arts shop. Her most recent studio album was released in 2019, and she continues to tour globally.
