Freddy Fender
Freddy Fender, born Baldemar Garza Huerta, was raised in San Benito, Texas. He initially found minor success in Mexico by performing Spanish-language covers of songs by famous artists such as Elvis Presley and Hank Williams. In pursuit of greater success in America, he changed his name to Freddy Fender in 1959, at the age of 21, as a Spanish name was considered a hindrance at the time. Freddy Fender is known for popular songs such as "Before the Next Teardrop Falls" and "Wasted Days and Wasted Nights." His discography includes albums like "La Musica De Baldemar Huerta" (2002) and "Rock’n’Country" (1976).
