Ernie Maresca
Ernie Maresca was a notable figure in the music industry, primarily recognized for his work as a songwriter. He composed several hits for the artist Dion, including the iconic songs "Runaround Sue" and "The Wanderer." "The Wanderer," released in 1961, became one of Dion's most popular tracks, reaching No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earning a place on Rolling Stone’s list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. In addition to his songwriting success, Maresca also achieved a brief moment in the spotlight as a performer with his lively 1962 hit "Shout! Shout! (Knock Yourself Out)," recorded with the Del Satins and an orchestra conducted by Billy Mure. Despite only hitting the charts once as a performer, Maresca's contributions to rock and roll through his songwriting have left a lasting impact on the genre.
