Bent Fabric
Bent Fabricius-Bjerre, internationally known as Bent Fabric, was a celebrated Danish pianist and composer born on December 7, 1924, in Frederiksberg, Denmark. He began his musical career by forming a jazz ensemble after World War II and founded Metronome Records in 1950. Under the pseudonym Frank Barcley, he released "50 Years Of Evergreens" in 1955. Fabric gained international fame with his 1961 instrumental hit "Omkring et flygel," later re-released as "Alley Cat," which topped charts in Australia and became a significant hit in the United States, reaching No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 and winning a Grammy Award for Best Rock & Roll Recording.

Fabric's contributions extended beyond popular music into film scores, with a prolific career that included work on films such as "The Olsen Gang" series and the TV series "Matador." In 2003, he returned to the Danish charts with the album "Jukebox," collaborating with notable Danish musicians, and in 2006, a remix of "Jukebox" achieved success on the US Dance/Club Play charts.

Throughout his career, Fabric released numerous albums and singles, with notable works including "The Happy Puppy" and "Organ Grinder's Swing." He was honored in 2018 by having a beetle species named after him, †Cacomorphocerus bentifabrici. Bent Fabric passed away on July 28, 2020, leaving behind a legacy of diverse musical achievements spanning classical, pop, and jazz genres.
