Amii Stewart
Amii Stewart, born Amy Paulette Stewart on January 29, 1956, in Washington, D.C., is an acclaimed American disco and soul singer. She gained international fame with her 1979 U.S. Billboard number 1 hit cover of Eddie Floyd's "Knock on Wood," a song that became a classic of the disco era and earned her a platinum record and a Grammy Award nomination. Stewart's career began in the theater, performing in the musical revue Bubbling Brown Sugar on Broadway and London's West End before transitioning to a successful music career.

Her debut single, "Knock on Wood," was followed by other hits such as "Light My Fire/137 Disco Heaven" and "Friends," the latter reaching number one in several European countries. Stewart's music continued to resonate in Europe even as disco's popularity waned in the United States. She adapted to new musical styles, collaborating with renowned producers like Giorgio Moroder and Ennio Morricone.

In the mid-1980s, Stewart relocated to Italy, where she became a respected performer across various musical genres. She performed at the Vatican's Christmas pageants in 1993 and 1994 and starred in Italian productions, including the rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar and her own musical, Lady Day. Stewart's discography includes albums such as "Knock on Wood," "Paradise Bird," and "Try Love," showcasing her versatility and enduring appeal in the music industry.
