Shola Ama
Shola Ama, born Shola Ama Mathurin-Campbell on March 8, 1979, in London, England, is a renowned British R&B and soul singer. Her career began at the age of 15 when she was discovered by producer Kwame Kwaten while singing at a tube station. She released her debut album, "Much Love," in 1997, which included the hit singles "You Might Need Somebody" and "Who's Loving My Baby." This album's success earned her a Brit Award for Best British Female and two MOBO Awards. Her second album, "In Return," was released in 1999 but did not achieve the same commercial success, leading her to take a break from recording. She returned with the album "Supersonic" in 2002, and in 2015, she released an EP titled "Surreal." Shola Ama is also known for mentoring her sister, Sadie Ama, and collaborating with various artists, including rapper Giggs. She remains an influential figure in the UK music scene, known for her unique blend of soul, R&B, and other musical styles.
