Morris Albert
Morris Albert, born Maurício Alberto Kaisermann on September 7, 1951, in São Paulo, Brazil, is a renowned Brazilian singer-songwriter and musician. He gained international fame with his 1974 soft rock ballad "Feelings," which became a Top Ten hit in both the U.S. and the U.K. and sold over 10 million copies worldwide. Despite being a one-hit wonder, Albert's song "Feelings" was covered by numerous artists, including Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra, and sold more than 160 million records globally.

Albert's early life began in Rio de Janeiro, where he was born into an Austrian immigrant family. He started his musical career as a member of several bands, playing guitar and singing. Over the years, he released multiple albums, including "Feelings" in 1975, which solidified his brief but impactful presence in the music industry. His success earned him 43 gold and 17 platinum albums.

However, Albert's career was marred by a plagiarism lawsuit in 1988, when French songwriter Louis Gasté sued him, claiming that "Feelings" plagiarized Gasté's 1956 song "Pour toi." The court ruled in Gasté's favor, awarding him a significant portion of the royalties.

Albert, who is of French, Austrian, and Ashkenazi Jewish descent, has four children and currently resides in Italy. Despite the controversy, he continues to be active in the music industry, maintaining a legacy defined by his iconic hit "Feelings."
