Bob Montgomery
Bob Montgomery was a multifaceted American musician, born on May 12, 1937, in Lampasas, Texas. He was a prominent singer, songwriter, record producer, and publisher. Montgomery's early life in music was closely intertwined with Buddy Holly, whom he met at Hutchinson Junior High School in Lubbock, Texas, in 1949. Together, they formed the duo "Buddy and Bob," performing bluegrass and later rockabilly music. They gained local fame with a weekly radio show on KDAV in Lubbock.

Montgomery co-wrote several songs with Holly, including "Heartbeat," "Wishing," and "Love's Made a Fool of You." He also penned the pop standard "Misty Blue" and "Back in Baby's Arms" for Patsy Cline. His production credits include Bobby Goldsboro's hits "Honey" and "Summer (The First Time)." Throughout his career, Montgomery worked with various artists, including Waylon Jennings and Marty Robbins, and published iconic songs like "Behind Closed Doors" and "The Wind Beneath My Wings."

Bob Montgomery passed away on December 4, 2014, in Lee's Summit, Missouri, from Parkinson's disease at the age of 77. His legacy in the music industry is marked by his contributions as a songwriter and producer, as well as his early collaboration with Buddy Holly.
