Mack Gordon
Mack Gordon, born Morris Gittler on June 21, 1904, in Warsaw, Poland, was a prominent American lyricist known for his contributions to stage and film music. He emigrated to the United States with his family in 1908, settling in New York City. Gordon began his entertainment career as a boy soprano in a minstrel show and later became a singing comic in vaudeville. His songwriting talents led him to form a successful partnership with English pianist Harry Revel in the 1930s, which resulted in numerous songs for the Ziegfeld Follies and Paramount Pictures.

Gordon's work in Hollywood was prolific, with his lyrics featured in over 100 film soundtracks. He was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Song nine times within 11 years, winning once for "You'll Never Know." Other notable songs include "At Last," "Chattanooga Choo Choo," and "The More I See You." His songs have been performed by legendary artists such as Frank Sinatra, Etta James, and Glenn Miller.

Mack Gordon was an active member of the Hollywood chapter of ASCAP and was known for his passionate involvement in the music community. He passed away on February 28, 1959, in New York City and is entombed in the Corridor of Immortality at Home of Peace Cemetery in Los Angeles, California. His legacy as a lyricist endures, with his work continuing to be celebrated in films and commercials.
