Mack David
Mack David was an influential American lyricist and songwriter, born on July 5, 1912, in New York City. Initially aspiring to become an attorney, he attended Cornell University and St. John's University Law School. However, he shifted his focus to songwriting in the mid-1940s, starting with New York's Tin Pan Alley before moving to Hollywood to work in film and television. David's career spanned from the early 1940s to the early 1970s, during which he wrote lyrics or music for over a thousand songs. He was particularly renowned for his contributions to Disney films such as "Cinderella" and "Alice in Wonderland."

David received eight Academy Award nominations for songs like "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo" from "Cinderella" and "The Hanging Tree." His song "Sunflower" became a hit in 1948, and he famously settled a copyright infringement lawsuit regarding its melody. David was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1975. He was also known for his English lyrics to Édith Piaf's "La Vie en rose," which gained widespread popularity. Mack David passed away on December 30, 1993, in Rancho Mirage, California.
