Indeep
Indeep was a New York City-based music group active from 1980 to 1987, known for their fusion of electro, funk, and post-disco sounds. The group was led by songwriter and musician Michael Cleveland and featured vocalists Réjane Magloire and Rose Marie Ramsey. They gained international fame with their 1982 hit "Last Night a D.J. Saved My Life," which became a dance music anthem, reaching the top 10 on the US R&B charts, No. 2 on the US Club charts, and achieving significant success in Europe, including a top 3 position in the Dutch Top 40 and top 15 in the UK. The song was notable for its innovative 12" mix, which included a vocal mix, an instrumental mix, and sound effects, catering to the burgeoning DJ scene of the early 1980s. Despite the massive success of this single, their follow-up releases, including "When Boys Talk," did not achieve similar acclaim, leading to their categorization as a one-hit wonder. The group disbanded in the late 1980s, but Michael Cleveland briefly revived Indeep in 2011 with new members Beckie Bell and WiX. Vocalist Réjane Magloire later found success with the Belgian techno-house group Technotronic.
