Dúo Las Carranza is a musical duo comprised of Arahí Martínez Carranza and her mother, Anet María Carranza Veitía. The duo was formed following the success of their performances on social media during the Covid-19 lockdown, where they showcased significant themes from Cuban musical history. Their debut project, "La Negrita y el Guaro," released on February 24, 2023, features 12 traditional Cuban songs reimagined with a focus on genres such as son, guaracha, and traditional trova. The album pays homage to the great duos of Latin American music history, incorporating instruments like the guitar, bass, tres, bongó, congas, trumpet, and minor percussion to evoke the sound of mid-20th century Cuban septets and conjuntos soneros. Arahí, born in Santa Clara, Cuba, began her musical career at the age of 4 and has a rich history in the Cuban music scene, including being the lead vocalist for the renowned Orquesta Anacaona in the 1980s.
