Archil Kereselidze
Archil Kereselidze (1912–1971) was a prominent Georgian composer, recognized as an outstanding representative of the Georgian school of composition. Born on December 24, 1912, in Ghunib, Dagestan, Russia, he developed a diverse body of work that spanned various genres, including Georgian variety, operetta, dramatic theater, and film music. Kereselidze was honored with the title of People’s Artist of Georgia in 1961.

He pursued his musical education at the Vano Sarajishvili Tbilisi State Conservatory, graduating in 1934 with studies in composition under S. Barkhurdariani and piano with Anastasia Virsaladze. He furthered his studies at the P. Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory, where he learned from notable teachers such as G. Litinsky, D. Kabalevsky, and N. Myaskovsky.

Kereselidze contributed to the musical landscape as a teacher of polyphony at the Tbilisi State Conservatory from 1940 to 1944 and served as the director of the musical part of the K. Marjanishvili Drama Theater from 1940 to 1946. From 1953 until his death in 1971, he was the music editor for the "Georgian Film" film studio.

His achievements were recognized with several honors, including the Order of Honor, the title of Honored Worker of Georgian Art in 1950, Honored Art Worker of North Ossetia in 1958, and the posthumous Zakaria Paliashvili Prize in 1974. Archil Kereselidze passed away on December 21, 1971, in Tbilisi, Georgia, and was laid to rest in the Didube Pantheon of Writers and Public Figures in Tbilisi.
