Los Rurales Y Los Amigos De Buenavista
Los Rurales Y Los Amigos De Buenavista is a Mexican brass band known for their unique blend of Oaxacan music and Balkan brass influences. The group was founded by five musicians from Oaxaca and one from Sinaloa, who met while studying at the Faculty of Music of the University of Veracruz. Initially formed as a brass quintet with two trumpets, a horn, a tuba, and a trombone, they later added a drummer/percussionist to their lineup.

Their energetic performances and distinctive style quickly gained them popularity, leading to performances beyond their hometown. They have played at significant events such as the opening of the exhibition "Around the World on 80 Bicycles" and festivals like Festival Otras Músicas de Oaxaca and El Festival Señor de Chalca in Chalco. The band's name, "Los Rurales," highlights their connection to rural origins and Mexican cultural heritage, which they strive to preserve through their music. Their repertoire includes sones, waltzes, tunes, and covers of classics like "What A Wonderful World" and "La Bamba," enriched by Balkan brass elements that give their music a unique character. Their album "Ocotita," released in 2019 under the Clasicos Latinos label, showcases their distinctive sound.
