Jean-Michel Jarre
Jean-Michel André Jarre, born on August 24, 1948, in Lyon, France, is a pioneering composer, performer, and record producer known for his significant contributions to electronic, ambient, and new-age music. Raised by his mother and grandparents, Jarre was introduced to music and art from a young age, influenced by street performers and jazz musicians. His musical style was heavily shaped by Pierre Schaeffer, a pioneer of musique concrète.

Jarre's breakthrough came with the 1976 album "Oxygène," recorded in a makeshift home studio, which sold an estimated 18 million copies. This success was followed by "Équinoxe" in 1978. In 1979, he performed to a record-breaking audience at the Place de la Concorde in Paris, setting a precedent for his future large-scale outdoor concerts featuring elaborate laser displays and fireworks.

Throughout his career, Jarre has sold over 80 million albums and singles. He was the first Western musician invited to perform in the People's Republic of China and holds a world record for the largest outdoor concert audience, with 3.5 million attendees in Moscow in 1997. Jarre's innovative use of synthesizers and live performances has earned him international acclaim and inspired generations of musicians.
