Tino Rossi
Constantin "Tino" Rossi, born on April 29, 1907, in Ajaccio, Corsica, France, was a celebrated French singer and film actor known for his operatic voice and romantic ballads. He began his career performing in small venues in Ajaccio, later moving to Marseille and the French Riviera. In the early 1930s, Rossi relocated to Paris, where he achieved significant success, joining Columbia Records alongside major stars of the era.

Rossi's career was bolstered by his collaboration with songwriter Vincent Scotto, who wrote many of his early hits. He became a major box office attraction in the French-speaking world before expanding his audience to the United States and Canada in 1938. His film career peaked during the German occupation of France with notable films like "Fièvres" (1942) and "L'Île d'amour" (1944).

In 1946, Rossi recorded "Petit Papa Noël," which sold over 30 million copies worldwide and became a Christmas classic. He married dancer Lilia Vetti in 1947, with whom he had a son. Despite the rise of rock and roll in the 1960s, Rossi remained popular, performing until his final public concert in 1982 at the Casino de Paris.

Rossi was honored as a Commander of the Legion of Honor in 1982 for his contributions to French culture. He passed away from pancreatic cancer on September 26, 1983, in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France. Rossi's legacy endures, with streets and squares named in his honor in his hometown and Paris.
