Brian May
Brian Harold May, born on July 19, 1947, in Hampton, Middlesex, England, is a renowned English musician, astrophysicist, and animal welfare activist. He is best known as the lead guitarist and a founding member of the iconic rock band Queen, alongside singer Freddie Mercury and drummer Roger Taylor. May's guitar work, particularly using his homemade "Red Special" guitar, and his songwriting contributions have been instrumental in Queen's rise to becoming one of the most successful bands in music history. Some of his notable compositions include "We Will Rock You," "I Want It All," and "Who Wants to Live Forever."

May's early musical endeavors began with the band Smile, which he formed while studying astrophysics at Imperial College London. His academic pursuits led to a Bachelor of Science degree, and he eventually completed his Ph.D. in astrophysics in 2007. Despite his scientific interests, May's passion for music led him to focus on Queen, which achieved international acclaim with albums like "A Night at the Opera" and its hit single "Bohemian Rhapsody."

Following the death of Freddie Mercury in 1991, May continued to honor Queen's legacy through various projects, including collaborations with vocalists Paul Rodgers and Adam Lambert. Beyond music, May has published numerous books, contributed to astrophysics research, and actively advocated for animal welfare. His contributions to music and science have been recognized with numerous honors, including a CBE in 2005 and a knighthood in 2023.
