Greg Lake
Gregory Stuart Lake, born on 10 November 1947 in Poole, Dorset, England, was a prominent English musician, singer, and songwriter. He rose to fame as a founding member of the progressive rock bands King Crimson and Emerson, Lake & Palmer (ELP). Lake's musical journey began at the age of 12 when he started playing guitar and wrote his first song, "Lucky Man." He became a full-time musician at 17, joining several rock bands before being invited by his friend Robert Fripp to join King Crimson as the lead singer and bassist. The band's debut album, "In the Court of the Crimson King" (1969), was a commercial success.

In 1970, Lake left King Crimson and co-founded ELP, where he achieved significant success throughout the 1970s. As a member of ELP, Lake was instrumental in writing and recording several popular songs, including "Lucky Man" and "From the Beginning." He also pursued a solo career, releasing the hit single "I Believe in Father Christmas" in 1975, which reached number two in the UK charts. Lake collaborated with guitarist Gary Moore and released three solo albums between 1981 and 1983.

Lake briefly joined the pop rock band Asia in 1983 for three concerts in Tokyo, Japan, and continued to collaborate with various artists and groups throughout the 1980s. He participated in occasional ELP reunions in the 1990s and 2010 and toured as a solo artist into the 21st century. Beyond his musical career, Lake was a producer, helping other artists secure recording contracts, and a fundraiser for the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.

Greg Lake passed away on 7 December 2016 in London, England, from pancreatic cancer at the age of 69.
