Dame Olivia Newton-John AC DBE (26 September 1948 – 8 August 2022) was a British-Australian singer, actress, and philanthropist. Born in Cambridge, England, she moved to Melbourne, Australia, at the age of five. Her musical career began with a talent contest win on the TV show "Sing, Sing, Sing," leading to her first single in 1966. Olivia achieved international fame with her 1971 cover of Bob Dylan's "If Not For You" and her U.S. album debut "Let Me Be There," which earned her a Grammy Award.

Newton-John's career skyrocketed with her role in the 1978 musical film "Grease," co-starring John Travolta. The film's soundtrack, featuring hits like "You're the One That I Want" and "Summer Nights," became one of the best-selling albums worldwide. Her solo hits include "I Honestly Love You," "Physical," and "Hopelessly Devoted to You."

With over 100 million records sold, Olivia Newton-John ranks among the best-selling music artists of all time. Her accolades include four Grammy Awards, a Daytime Emmy Award, and induction into the ARIA Hall of Fame. She was also appointed Officer of the Order of Australia and Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire.

Beyond music, Newton-John was a dedicated advocate for breast cancer research, having battled the disease three times. She founded the Olivia Newton-John Cancer & Wellness Centre in Melbourne. Her humanitarian efforts extended to environmental causes, serving as a Goodwill Ambassador to the United Nations Environment Programme.
