Chris Thompson
Chris Thompson, born Christopher Hamlet Thompson on March 9, 1948, in Ashford, Kent, England, is a renowned English singer, songwriter, and guitarist. Raised in New Zealand, Thompson's early musical endeavors began with the band The Paragons, which later evolved into Dynasty, achieving local success. He later formed the band Mandrake with university friends before moving to Australia and eventually returning to England in 1973 to pursue a musical career.

Thompson is best known for his work as the lead vocalist for Manfred Mann's Earth Band, notably providing vocals for their hit "Blinded by the Light." He joined the band in 1976 and contributed to several of their successful albums. In 1978, he was featured in Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War of the Worlds, singing "Thunder Child."

After leaving Manfred Mann's Earth Band in 1979, Thompson formed the band Night, which enjoyed chart success with hits like "If You Remember Me." He rejoined the Earth Band in 1982 and continued to collaborate with various artists, including Patrick Simmons, Michael McDonald, and Alan Parsons. Thompson co-wrote the hit song "You're the Voice," which became a global success for John Farnham.

Thompson has released several solo albums, starting with "Out of the Night" in 1981, and continued to perform and record with various artists, including Norwegian guitarist Mads Eriksen. His career spans decades, during which he has worked with notable musicians such as Elton John, Tina Turner, and Ozzy Osbourne. Despite his extensive contributions to rock music, Thompson remains an "unsung" vocal talent whose work has left a lasting impact on the genre.
