Billy Ocean, born Leslie Sebastian Charles on January 21, 1950, in Fyzabad, Trinidad and Tobago, is a renowned Trinidadian-born British singer and songwriter. He moved to Romford, East London, England, at the age of eight. Ocean's career began in the late 1960s, and he gained initial success with his 1976 hit single "Love Really Hurts Without You," which reached No. 2 in the UK charts. He continued to achieve international acclaim with hits like "Caribbean Queen (No More Love on the Run)," which won him a Grammy Award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance in 1985.

Ocean's music is characterized by a blend of R&B, pop, soul, and reggae, and he has sold over 30 million records worldwide. His notable songs include "When the Going Gets Tough, the Tough Get Going," "There'll Be Sad Songs (To Make You Cry)," and "Get Outta My Dreams, Get into My Car," all of which topped the charts in various countries.
