He is celebrated for his skills as a guitarist, keyboardist, and vocalist. Nova's career took off with his self-titled debut album in 1982, which reached number 8 on the Billboard charts, largely due to the success of the single "Fantasy," which peaked at number 23 on the US Billboard Hot 100.

Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Nova released several albums, including "Subject...Aldo Nova" in 1983 and "Twitch" in 1985, though he faced challenges with his record label and took a break from his solo career. He collaborated with notable artists such as Jon Bon Jovi and contributed to the soundtrack for "Young Guns II." In 1991, he released "Blood on the Bricks" under Bon Jovi's label, Jambco Records.
