Christopher Cross
Christopher Cross, born Christopher Charles Geppert on May 3, 1951, in San Antonio, Texas, is an acclaimed American singer-songwriter and guitarist. Raised as an "army brat" with a father who served as a U.S. Army pediatrician, Cross's early life included a stint at Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington, D.C. He graduated from Alamo Heights High School in 1969, where he was active in football and track and field.

Cross began his music career with the San Antonio-based cover band Flash, eventually signing a solo contract with Warner Bros. Records in 1978. His debut album, released in 1979, featured hit singles such as "Sailing" and "Ride Like the Wind," and earned him five Grammy Awards, making history by winning in the four major categories: Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best New Artist.

His success continued with "Arthur's Theme (Best That You Can Do)," co-written with Burt Bacharach, Carole Bayer Sager, and Peter Allen, which won an Oscar for Best Original Song. Despite the success of his second album, "Another Page," his subsequent albums did not achieve the same level of commercial success.

Cross faced personal challenges, including a serious car accident in 1984 and a battle with Guillain–Barré syndrome in 2020, which affected his mobility and memory. Nonetheless, he continued to perform and tour, celebrating his 40th anniversary in the music industry with a concert tour in 2021 and 2022. Throughout his career, Cross has been known for his soft rock hits and his distinctive melodic voice.
