Lisa Jane Stansfield, born on April 11, 1966, in Manchester, England, is a renowned singer, songwriter, and actress. She rose to fame after winning the singing competition Search for a Star in 1980. Her early career involved forming the band Blue Zone in 1983 with Ian Devaney and Andy Morris. The group released several singles and an album, but it was her feature on Coldcut's 1989 hit "People Hold On" that propelled her into the spotlight.

Stansfield's debut solo album, Affection (1989), included the chart-topping single "All Around the World" and became her best-selling album, earning her two Grammy nominations.
